DOINA
FISCHER was born in Switzerland, where she has competed through
the Grand Prix level, working with a German-Rumanian military
trainer. After completing her schooling, she bought her own
horse and began extensive training in classical dressage.
At
Mas de Malibu in France, under Sadko G. Solinski, the well-known
French trainer who studied with the late master Nuno Oliveira,
she learned to train and start young horses in a classical
manner. She studied equine anatomy and movement, as well as
nutrition and health care, working with Baroque breeds, including
Andalusians, Lusitanos, and Friesians. After finishing her
studies at the school, she moved to the Tuscan hills of Italy,
where she opened her own riding center and was certified by
A.N.T.E. and F.I.S.E.
In
the late 1980s, Doina moved to the United States and worked
for Rainbow Farm in California; then went to Mexico and trained
the junior jumping team. In Merida she met with Iberian breeders
and trained and preformed the paso doble at the Plaza del
Toro.
Returning
to the United States, she met her second teacher, trainer
Dominique Barbier, author of Dressage in the New Age
and a former student of Nuno Oliveira. Doina spent time at
his farm in San Francisco, where she studied the art of work
in hand. In the 1990s she relocated to the East Coast, where
she worked with International Judge Gail Carmona, who introduced
her to the competitive dressage world in the United States.
She also organized eastern clinics for Dominique Barbier.
In
1996 Doina met Luis Ramos Paul, former head trainer of the
Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre in Jerez, Spain. Luis
became her third trainer and certified her in classical dressage.
She worked for Luis as his head trainer for two years, riding
and training Andalusian stallions for S.I.C.A.B. in Spain.
She also trained Saltador V, the Champion of Spain in 1997.
In Seville Doina founded Earthbeat,
a company devoted to exploration of horses and dance. Doina
performed with her partner, an internationally known flamenco
dancer, at various locations throughout Spain and the United
States. She is now located on the East Coast, where she trains
all breeds and conducts international clinics.
